Fishing for Kids: Cast Hope

Hogan Brown grew up an only child near the Lower Yuba River, a prime fly fishing area. At 17 years old he was hooked on the sport. These days, the 33-year-old fishing guide and high school teacher helps run Cast Hope, a nonprofit organization that pulls kids ages 10 and older away from the television, computer and video games and introduces them to the outdoors through fly fishing.  The group is composed of fishing enthusiasts and guides who volunteer their skills teaching the kids and their mentors the sport of fly fishing on Northern California’s rivers and streams. Go to www.casthope.org for more info.  Read Hogan’s interview.
