BTT staff and volunteers on location recently near Boca Grande, Florida at the site of a juvenile tarpon habitat restoraiton project. After netting juvenile tarpon, those large enough to have a small micro-chip surgically implanted will be tracked by radio antennae to determine their movement and use of the area, both prior to and after restoration. Staff and volunteers netted 42 juvenile tarpon with 4 being large enough to have a chip implanted. Sampling and tagging will occur on a monthly basis and volunteer assistance is welcome.
