
As a brief update, last year the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission established a two-fish bag limit, and a six-fish vessel limit for both recreational and commercial barracuda anglers. These limits apply only to those fishing state and federal waters off southern Florida (Martin, Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe, and Collier counties), and went into effect starting November 1st, 2015.
However, during the final hearing the Commission felt it was necessary to gather more public input before approving any size limits for barracuda. To gather your input, the FWC invites you to attend one of their upcoming public workshops that will be held next week throughout South Florida. At these workshops, FWC will be presenting options for size limitations and gathering your feedback through public comment and a follow-up survey. The list of dates and locations are below:
