BTT is pleased that the FWC heard the testimony of many in South Florida that the barracuda population is in trouble, and that the Commission saw the need for new regulations for barracuda. We especially applaud Commissioner Spottswood for leading this effort. Given the apparently poor state of the barracuda population in South Florida, BTT supports a much smaller slot limit, which would allow more barracuda to reach spawning size, but we are confident that FWC will track the status of the barracuda population in the future, and make adjustments as necessary.
