Patagonia made $10 million on Black Friday…and is giving it all to conservation

Patagonia has long been at the forefront of conservation and sustainability and has been a generous BTT partner for many years. Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard co-founded 1% For The Planet in 2002, and the company has since given millions to conservation while promoting sustainability in its own business. This November, Patagonia stepped up once again by promising to donate 100% of its Black Friday profits to grassroots conservation causes…and then raised five times what they predicted, a whopping $10 million.

“We have a problem,” the company posted following Black Friday. “By getting active in communities, we can raise our voices to defend policies and regulations that will protect wild places and wildlife, reduce carbon emissions, build a modern energy economy based on investment in renewables, and, most crucially, ensure the United States remains fully committed to the vital goals set forth in the Paris Agreement on climate change.”
