HOMESTEAD, Fla. — Biscayne National Park is pleased to announce the reopening today of Adams Key, a popular day use area in the park. The key has been closed since Hurricane Irma swept through the area on September 10, 2017. Saw crews have been working on clearing downed trees, removing stumps, and cleaning up storm debris to make the key safe for visitors.
“Employees and volunteers have been working hard to prepare park islands and facilities for re-opening,” said Superintendent Margaret Goodro. “We are pleased to be able to open Adams Key for visitors today.”
The Eastern and Intermountain Incident Management Teams have been assisting park staff with emergency stabilization efforts that will allow them to reopen in a safe and timely manner.
