Opened in 2015 and remodeled during the summer of 2020, Ascension Bay Lodge (ABL) is a boutique fishing lodge located on one of the most prolific and pristine saltwater flats fisheries on earth. Whether it’s your first time on the flats or you’re on the hunt for your fiftieth permit, ABL will exceed your expectations and become a place you will return to year after year. The lodge cultivates an unpretentious, family-style atmosphere centered around good times, great food, and a shared love of saltwater flats fishing.
The lodge’s experienced guides fish throughout Ascension Bay, which is located within the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, a massive, protected wilderness area that’s home to large populations of permit, bonefish, tarpon, snook and many other flats species. From seemingly endless permit flats to backcountry mangrove lagoons filled with snook and tarpon, there are a multitude of unique ecosystems waiting to be explored. ABL’s expert guide teams lead anglers into these diverse waters each day in search of the fish of a lifetime. Each team is composed of a senior and junior guide who work together throughout the day, managing the boat and assisting anglers in spotting and landing fish.
Located on the beach in Punta Allen, ABL has six clean, comfortable rooms, high-end bathrooms, a spacious palapa, an open bar, and serves high-quality meals. The lodge proudly embraces the Mexican and Mayan food cultures, serving delicious meals prepared by their in-house chefs from local ingredients and freshly caught seafood.
