Blue Safari Seychelles, a leader in marine safaris and ocean experiences, has announced its renewed support of Bonefish & Tarpon Trust’s conservation mission as a Gold Corporate Partner.
Situated in the heart of the Indian Ocean in one of the last untouched frontiers, Blue Safari Seychelles Fly Fishing offers unparalleled experiences across the remote and pristine Outer Islands of the Seychelles. Each location provides exceptional experiences for anglers, combining diverse ecosystems, abundant marine life, excellent fly fishing opportunities with exceptional guiding and high-end equipment.
By partnering with organizations such as Bonefish & Tarpon Trust, Blue Safari Seychelles Fly Fishing is committed to preserving these fragile ecosystems, ensuring the fisheries remain sustainable for future generations.
“Our partnership with Bonefish & Tarpon Trust has been crucial in advancing recreational fisheries conservation,” said Keith Rose-Innes, Director of Blue Safari Seychelles Fly Fishing. “On Alphonse Island, we’ve used acoustic telemetry to monitor giant trevally and milkfish, gaining insight into their spatial ecology to inform fishery management. Since 2018, we’ve PIT tagged over 1,400 Giant Trevally to study population dynamics, and our post-release mortality research shows high resilience in both GTs and bonefish after best-practice handling. Recent studies on bonefish in St. Francois contribute to a global understanding of species health.”
At the heart of Blue Safari Seychelles’ Fly Fishing operations is Alphonse Island, where anglers can explore miles of untouched sand flats teeming with bonefish, permit, giant trevally, milkfish and multiple triggerfish species, all of which are targeted fly. Blue Safari Seychelles Fly Fishing collaborates with Bonefish & Tarpon Trust to research and monitor these fish populations, contributing to global research and conservation efforts.
Cosmoledo Eco Camp, established in 2018, is a testament to sustainable fly fishing, offering eco-friendly accommodations while preserving the environment. On Astove Atoll, the intimate and rustic Astove Coral House provides an exclusive experience for small groups, emphasizing minimal environmental impact and historic heritage. Further afield, Farquhar, Providence Atoll, the Amirante Islands, and Platte Island all offer diverse fishing opportunities. Blue Safari Seychelles Fly Fishing’s commitment to conservation is evident across these locations, implementing strict catch-and-release policies and safeguarding the remote beauty of the Outer Islands of the Seychelles, allowing anglers to enjoy world-class fly fishing while contributing to the protection of some of the most secluded waters on Earth.
“We thank Blue Safari Seychelles for its renewed support of our mission to conserve bonefish, tarpon, and permit, and the essential habitats that sustain the flats fishery,” said BTT President and CEO Jim McDuffie. “Our partnership with Blue Safari Seychelles has already contributed to a greater understanding of bonefish and best handling practices, and we look forward to what we will accomplish next to advance the conservation of flats species.”
