14th Annual NYC Dinner & Awards Ceremony

14th Annual NYC Dinner & Awards Ceremony

Join Bonefish & Tarpon Trust for the 14th Annual NYC Dinner & Awards Ceremony on October 6, 2025, at 583 Park Avenue, as we honor Thorpe McKenzie with the Lefty Kreh Award for Lifetime Achievement in Conservation.

A native of Lookout Mountain, Tennessee, Thorpe McKenzie’s distinguished career began in New York City as a stockbroker with Kidder, Peabody & Company, from 1970 to 1980, prior to becoming the founding general partner of TIGER, the renowned global hedge fund launched in 1980 with Julian Robertson. McKenzie later returned to his home state and co-founded Pointer Management, LLC, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Beyond his notable professional accomplishments, McKenzie is a lifelong sportsman whose leadership and generosity have advanced important land and water conservation efforts. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Bonefish & Tarpon Trust, where his dedication to science-driven conservation continues to shape the future of the species and habitats we cherish. This follows his previous service for 25 years on the board of the Atlantic Salmon Federation and his foundational leadership with Tall Timbers, which led to the conservation of significant bobwhite quail habitat in the Red Hills region of North Florida and South Georgia. A longtime angler in the Florida Keys, McKenzie also served as the director of the Don Hawley Foundation for more than a decade.

Paul Tudor Jones II, the 2018 Lefty Kreh Award winner, will introduce McKenzie on October 6 in a program led by CNBC’s Steve Liesman and featuring cocktails and dinner, live and silent auctions, entertainment, and a report on the latest research and conservation highlights from the field. Other legends and luminaries from the angling world will also be on hand to welcome McKenzie into BTT’s Circle of Honor.

Don’t miss this opportunity to honor a true conservation champion and support the ongoing work of BTT. We look forward to celebrating with you in New York!
