Recreational Fishing Guides are of major importance to Bonefish & Tarpon Trust. Since they are on the water most days of the year, they are the eyes and ears of conservation of the bonefish, tarpon, and permit fisheries. They are the first observers and can be the first line of defense for the resource. Guides are also the ones who interact with recreational anglers the most, giving them the power to set a positive example through good stewardship.
Our Conservation Captain Program is reserved for those who support BTT and our mission. We offer free membership to guides as part of the program. In return, we ask that you help with BTT research efforts, promote the BTT mission, and act as a role model by consistently practicing safe fish handling techniques. We are all in this for the same reason, to keep the fisheries healthy.
To be listed as a Conservation Captain on our website, you must meet at least two of the following requirements annually:
Once you have registered, we will send a welcome package including BTT stickers and info materials, our latest BTT Journal, a custom BTT Buff, and a special BTT Conservation Captain fishing shirt. We recommend you list your name on the “Referrer” line of all membership forms and be sure to tell your clients to list your name as their referrer when they sign up so you receive credit for that new member. Please contact us at any time to request additional materials.
